The unintended expatriate blogger behind MapleBasinZenith

Hello, I am Giulia
I work as a project manager and am a parent. I currently reside in Rome, Italy.
Some years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter of my life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the plan for the long haul. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The early months were intense — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet over time, routines began to take shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and started creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built MapleBasinZenith
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a frank, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap—practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Represents (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel diary
Future Outlook
Our stay in Italy goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Giulia
